It had some changes from the ag 5010 to suit it better for grader work:
Industrial styling, with plate steel nose frame
Offset operators station (like the 840)
Heavier, and swept back front axle (see a comparison of the industrial front axle and agricultural, here.)
Different front and rear wheels, with split rims (for easier tire removal, I would guess)
Heavier and longer frame rails, extend farther back on transmission
Non adjustable rear axle
Two lever shuttle shift like the 3010 and 4010 Wheel tractors, with 8 speed Syncro Range transmission
Options (that I know about):
Vertical PTO--needed for driving the scraper
Rear Counterweights--only needed for jobs not using the scraper. In fact, when installed, they effectively block the veritcal PTO shaft (I think this applies for the 5010, it is there for the JD760)
Rear wheel weights
Cab
Same hitch and hydraulic options as the normal 5010
It was used to pull Model 40l scrapers, and probably the same #400 scrapers as the 840. They could also be used to pull other heavy attachments, as well. Sheepsfoot packers, etc.
