- "The Farm"
  - In 1997, we "bought the farm" - 31 acres in Surry County, NC, with a great view of Pilot Mountain, Sauratown Mountain, and Hanging Rock. Although it had no buildings when we bought it, I built a 32' x 34' barn in 1998 to store the tractors, backhoe, and other miscellaneous implements and tools, and we just completed building our house there in 1999. I documented the barn progression from start to finish: Barn photos & captions. I'll add house photos soon.
- Snow skiing
  - In 1997, my wife and I went to Whistler, BC, in March!
  - In 1998, my wife and I went to Breckenridge, CO, in February!
  - In 1999, being that we were going to build the house, my wife and I stuck to local skiing.
  - Last year (2000), we went to Park City, Utah in February!
  - This year (2001), we went back to Park City in February to stay at our new slopeside timeshare!
- Motorcycle touring
  - 1989 Honda Pacific Coast 800 (sold, looking for a Goldwing)
- Mountain biking
- Backpacking (mostly in the winter)
